Big Sister Mitzi and Little Sister Myasia exemplify the magic that happens in great match relationships.
With few positive role models in her life, Myasia was acting out at home and school and was headed down a risky path. Her family reached out to BBBS for help and Myasia was matched with her Big Sister Mitzi.
During their four years together, Mitzi and Myasia’s favorite activities together have been enjoying meals together, walks outdoors, and long conversation. Mitzi has always focused on broadening Myasia’s horizons by working with Myasia to develop her communication skills and teaching her life skills such as cooking.
Today, Myasia reflects on how the trajectory of her life might have been different if not for Mitzi’s positive presence and mentoring. We are honored and delighted to recognize Mitzi and Myasia as our Big Brothers Big Sisters of Westchester & Putnam 2023 Match of the Year!
